Lonnie Hammargren, a former Nevada Lieutenant Governor, garnered fame for his extraordinary collection of historical memorabilia. Known for his eclectic taste and passion for preserving the past, Hammargren amassed a mind-blowing array of artifacts showcasing the region's amusing history. Hammargren's home went beyond its original purpose to become an unofficial museum named "Hammargren Home of Nevada History,"  which spans three neighboring houses. His collection's sheer scope and creativity, including casino castoffs and rare historical items, captivate visitors. Through his efforts, Hammargren inadvertently turned his residence into a cultural hub that attracted enthusiasts from near and far. The museum houses an eccentric collection of artifacts and showcases various aspects of history, science, and Nevada's rich heritage. The collection includes an observation tower, an underground mine, a miniature Taj Mahal, and a T-rex replica. It also includes artifacts related to space travel, such as a half-scale model of the space shuttle Columbia. The museum also houses the second-oldest building in Nevada, a barn once owned by Bing Crosby. Notable oddities include a 16-foot animatronic tiger from the Mirage and an Egyptian burial chamber with instructions for Hammargren's future interment.

In 2017, the main Hammargren house transitioned into Amber and Mike Softing's ownership, resulting in the residence being rechristened Paradise Crest Manor. The annual Halloween event, "Monsters at the Manor," transforms the manor into a spooky realm with animatronics, inflatables, and mild frights. The collaboration between the Softings and Hammargrens revitalizes the residence, allowing attendees to immerse themselves in a blend of history and entertainment on Halloween night.
